Fruit Cup Sangria
You might be wondering “how exactly did you come up with THIS recipe?” so, let me give it to you straight. I was driving home on a hot day, and itching to break into my house and fix myself a cool beverage. It’s patio season, so I thought of a refreshing white wine sangria! Except, frig..I didn’t have any fresh fruit in the house (please don’t read into the fact that the wine was most definitely in stock at home though…). So, my brain went into…well, brainstorming mode! In a sudden flash of genius (if I do say so myself) I realized I did have fruit at home. I had fruit cups! I’m a Mom of 3, and this may be the biggest #momhack moment of my life…stealing the kids lunch snacks for an summer’s eve chill glass of white wine sangria. I mean, I’m pretty proud of this.
The reason fruit cups are actually the best idea ever, is because they’re already in a syrup. There’s no need to mix a simple syrup. All you need to do is toss in some fruit cups, bottle of white wine, and some triple sec. Not only that, but that very-cherry fruit cup adds a level of nostalgia to your own fruit cup loving days as a child, you’re just enjoying them in a much more adult sense now! Works for me!
- 1.5L bottle of White Wine
- 4-6oz Splash of Orange Liquer (Triple Sec)
- 3 fruit cups (we used the extra cherry kind!)
- Optional - Sparkling Water/Soda
- Optional - Marachino Cherries & Umbrellas
- Large Pitcher
- Simply pour all the ingredients into your pitcher, mix well and serve! Use a spoon to ladle out the fruit, as they may settle to the bottom. Garnish with cherries on mini umbrellas to be extra fancy. If you've got time for that 😉
